History of La Muralla Roja

HISTORY

Ricardo Bofill conceived La Muralla Roja as a reinterpretation of the traditional Mediterranean casbah. Drawing inspiration from North African architecture and constructivist principles, he created a vertical labyrinth of fifty apartments connected by stairs, bridges, and platforms. The building's name—“The Red Wall”—speaks to its bold chromatic identity, where contrasting colors define spaces and create optical illusions that challenge perception.
